As an Ironworker I have used thousands of those bolts on buildings. There called TC bolts. But the narrator of this video was wrong when he said they were made for Bridges.When in fact we are not aloud to use them on bridges. We can only use high strength bolts on bridges which get torqued to a much higher level.

Interesting. Volvo and renault trucks have similar bolts used on chassis. But for some reason those tips are still there and not snapped off.

Nothing new, it’s called torque. There is an earth quake proof bolt when the tightening torque is reached the red cap snapped.

well no what they do on the bolts for high pressure is they hit it with a tack weld on the bolt to plate so it's permanent and can never loosen

The tip prevents the bolt from spinning, the rest is just about eliminating human error. Else it's just an ordinary bolt.
