@solitudenoire_: Lena used to think the hardest part of losing someone was saying goodbye. She was wrong. The hardest part was waking up every morning and realizing the world had already moved on while hers had stayed exactly where Miu left it. Time kept passing, people kept living, and somehow everyone expected her to do the same. Her apartment looked almost identical to the day Miu disappeared from it. There were still two mugs in the kitchen. One had been washed that morning. The other hadn’t been touched for months, yet Lena couldn’t bring herself to move it. Friends kept telling her that healing meant letting go, but nobody ever explained what to do when every corner of a room still looked like someone you loved. People believed grief became lighter with time. Lena learned the opposite. It simply became quieter, hiding inside familiar songs, empty seats, unread messages, and every little habit that still belonged to someone who wasn’t coming home. ——————— “You’ve been staring at that picture for almost an hour.” Lena looked up as her sister placed dinner in front of her. “I wasn’t staring.” “You smiled.” “…Because she looked happy.” Her sister sighed before sitting beside her. “Lena… it’s been eleven months.” “I know how long it’s been.” “No, I don’t think you do.” Lena finally looked away from the photograph. “Everyone keeps counting months like they’re supposed to mean something. Eleven months doesn’t change the fact that I still reach for my phone whenever something funny happens.” Silence settled between them. “I still forget she’s gone.” ——————— The city kept moving as if nothing had happened. People laughed inside cafés, rushed to catch trains, argued over parking spots, and complained about work. Meanwhile Lena stood outside the flower shop, buying the same white lilies every week because Miu once said they looked peaceful. The woman behind the counter smiled softly. “For your girlfriend again?” Lena nodded. “She must’ve been very lucky.” Lena swallowed the lump in her throat. “No.” The florist frowned. “I was the lucky one.” ——————— The cemetery was quieter than usual. Lena sat on the grass with her knees pulled close, placing the flowers in front of Miu’s headstone before brushing away a few fallen leaves. “I finally finished that series you kept begging me to watch.” She laughed to herself. “I hated the ending.” Another smile. “You would’ve spoiled it anyway.” Her fingers brushed across the engraved letters of Miu’s name. A gentle breeze passed. “I got promoted.” Her smile slowly disappeared. “I looked around the office because I wanted to tell someone first.” Her voice cracked. “And then I remembered… the only person I wanted to tell wasn’t there anymore.” ——————— Sometimes Lena wondered if heaven had visiting hours. If it did, she’d gladly wait in line just to spend five minutes beside Miu again. She wouldn’t ask impossible questions or beg for miracles. She only wanted to hear her laugh one more time and memorize it properly, afraid she’d eventually forget how it sounded. That terrified her more than loneliness ever could. She stopped by the apartment they once dreamed of renting together. It had finally been completed. A young couple walked out holding hands, laughing over where they’d put the couch. Lena stood across the street for a long time. “We almost made it.” Her whisper disappeared into the wind. “I even kept the list.” She smiled through tears. “The blue curtains you wanted… the bookshelf by the window… the orange cat you promised we’d adopt.” Everything still existed. Except the future they planned. ——————— #lenamiu #lalinalena #miunatsha #au #fyp The Continuation ⬇️

—> The Continuation . That night the rain returned. . Lena searched through an old storage box until she found a voice recorder Miu had bought years ago just because she wanted to save random memories. . She pressed play. . Static. . Then laughter. . “Oh my God, bubbie, stop recording while I’m eating!” . “You sounds cute.” . “I sound embarrassing.” . “You’ll thank me one day.” . “I doubt it.” . Their laughter filled the room. . Lena covered her mouth before the sob escaped. . “I do.” . Her voice barely came out. . “I thank you every single day.” . People always said love ended when someone left. . They were wrong. . Love stayed behind. . It waited in half-written grocery lists, birthdays that still deserved celebrating, sweaters that still smelled familiar long after they shouldn’t, and empty passenger seats that somehow never stopped feeling occupied. . Lena had spent months trying to survive without Miu. . The truth was… . she never learned how. . She only learned how to keep breathing. . —————— . A year later, Lena returned with fresh lilies. . She sat beside the headstone just like always, resting her back against the tree. . “I don’t cry every day anymore.” . She smiled gently. . “I think you’d be proud of that.” . The wind brushed against her hair. . “I still miss you.” . She looked up at the sky. . “I probably always will.” . Another quiet smile appeared. . “Can’t you wait for me? I promise we will meet again, because you said our love would stay forever, right?” . She smiled through tears. . “I’ll take my time getting there.” . “Until then… keep a place for me.” . Lena took one last look at the headstone before turning away. No matter how many times she walked out of those cemetery gates, a part of her always stayed behind. . Because even after all this time… . Lena still looked for Miu in crowded streets. . Still reached for her phone whenever life happened. . Still caught herself turning toward the passenger seat just to tell her about the smallest things. . Lena wouldn’t ask for forever. . She wouldn’t ask for another lifetime. . Just one conversation. . One laugh. . One more chance to hear Miu say her name. . That was all she’d ever wanted. . [End]
