I used to work in an all female CNA facility with ONE male nurse, Ken. Whenever a resident would act up, “Oh Ken?” And they’d immediately stop. Ken was a former military medic who gave no shits about things. Best nurse I’ve ever worked under.

As a guy working as a caregiver, I’ve had male patients tell me horrible, gut wrenching things about women, sometimes about my female colleagues and coworkers, because im a guy and I would “get them”. I don’t “get them” and I never will. I’m genuinely appalled by how other men act, no fucking wonder women are scared of us, they have every right to be when freaks like that are running around. I’m taking the things I heard with me to the grave, no one deserves to hear those things said about them, least of all the women who already have to put up with all the other bullshit that comes with the job

If a patient is a creep and A/Ox3, we need to normalize kicking them out! Doc to the bedside immediately for an EMTALA exam and when it is surely negative, out the door they go. We need to normalize pressing charges too. We get the behavior we tolerate and we need to stop tolerating it! 🚔

I love that you help them be safe. I just hate that we place all safety demands on male staff in Healthcare and education. It contributes to burnout and it doesn't resolve the underlying issues of violence against educators or Healthcare workers.

Im a phlebotomist at the hospital and It makes me laugh when I step in after my female coworkers deal with a patient who makes them uncomfortable. They shut up real quick.
