He is not a senior member of the Netanyahu government.. He is not in the security cabinet. The minister of national.security in Israel is not the same thing as the head of Mossad or the head of counter intelligence in this country. He is the minister in charge of the police and fire departments in the country. While that is a significant role, it's not one that influences the military or intelligence services. Also the Prime Minister has control over what those ministries actually control and Netanyahu does have the ability to essentially give him such a role in name only while pulling some of the essential functions such as control of the GSS under his direct purview

honestly i think it’s political. iran is demanding we pull back with israel in order to reopen the strait and it shows as a sign of good faith probably, and won’t have any actual political repercussions. they probably think we can just smile and nod our way out of this without actually impacting our relationship with israel. but that’s not how it works. and even though elon is no longer directly involved in the gov (so it seems anyway) he still has a very vested interest in having MAGA succeed. that being sad, an oil shortage would make electric cars seem very appealing 😅
