because nhl draft picks aren't worth much when they are later in the first round. if it was a top 3 or 5 pick might be worth keeping. outside of that trade them all for win now

they need a goalie. obviously in win now mode, theyve made it so another cup is necessary to be a success. panthers will be bottom of the league in 10 yrs but if you can get 2 cups out of it, it was worth it

in hockey if you don’t have a top 5-10 pick odds are your pick won’t be a productive player in the NHL and if they are it’ll most likely be 10 years down the line when they’re 28 and in their prime. for contenders picks are nothing

I don’t get this. Aren’t their rules that you have to have one of your first picks for the next 2 years to prevent teams from acquiring veteran talent and trading their picks from 10 draft classes in the future…?

Causal hockey fans forget Pittsburg did this as well… now Crosby is older they are making picks… to stay relevant in the nhl you don’t draft projects you trade picks for roster players that immediately help… rebuilding teams draft projects… no good team that wins drafts in the first round every year.
