Daniel Boyd, 31, communicated grooming messages and explicit images to the minor before scheduling a rendezvous for sexual intercourse. Daniel Boyd, from Dagonet Gardens in Bromley, appeared at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, November 3, after pleading guilty to meeting a girl following grooming, engaging in sexual communication with a juvenile, and attempting to get a child to view a photograph of his penis. He received a one-year prison term, suspended for two years, suggesting he will not serve time unless he reoffends. The case facts were presented to the court. On July 7, he opened a Facebook discussion with an individual who seemed to be a little girl, adding, "Hey." The girl indicated that she was 14 years old, and Daniel Boyd informed her that he was 31. He transmitted three images of his genitalia to her, demanded that she submit explicit photographs of herself, and booked a rendezvous at Bromley South Station on July 18. Daniel Boyd openly said that the aim of the meeting was sexual and told her to reserve a hotel room, as he lacked the financial wherewithal to do so himself. Upon being challenged by paedophile hunters, Daniel Boyd commented, “This was foolish of me,” and pleaded, “I do not wish to be incarcerated.” By 8:40 PM, he was in police handcuffs. Tihomir Mak, in defending his client in court, argued that Daniel Boyd was really regretful and had no prior legal difficulties. He stated that Daniel Boyd's challenging upbringing in Jamaica and inadequate mental health had played a role in his criminal behaviour. During the sentence of Daniel Boyd, Recorder Joshua Swirsky stated: “You are a man in your 30s who intended to engage in sexual activity with a 14-year-old child.” "I believe that such behaviour is egregious criminal conduct and is condemned by the majority of society." Recorder Swirsky concluded that requiring Daniel Boyd to participate in rehabilitation services in order to prevent future offences and to postpone his prison sentence was the best way to protect the public from him. "It is clear that intervention is required to help you change your behaviour and to prevent the recurrence of this conduct in order to safeguard society," he said. Daniel Boyd was required to do 150 hours of community service, 45 days of rehabilitation, and a 60-day intervention program. For ten years, he will have to register as a sexual offender.
