Starting in 2010 cars will set a temporary and permanent code. you can clear the temporary code but the permanent code will stay until the problem is corrected. Be careful when attempting to do your own diagnostics especially with oxygen sensors. if the O2 code is for a heater circuit, you're good to change yhe sensor. if the O2 is just reading wrong you need to do some work in live data to determine what the real cause is because it's usually not the sensor. Replace the O2 and its not the true culprit and your CEL is right back on, then your coming to someone like me for real diagnostics

warning light is gone until the fault occurs again and it comes back on. never clear the code unless you've repaired the issue
