apple pie🍎🥧🍂 Ingredients: Pie crust: 300g (2 1/2 cups) all purpose flour 30g (2 tbsp) granulated sugar 1 tsp salt 225g (1 cup) unsalted butter, cold & cubed 45-60ml (3-4 tbsp) ice cold water Apple filling: 1kg (about 4-5 large apples), peeled, cored & sliced 30g (2 tbsp) unsalted butter 150g (3/4 cup) brown sugar 50g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar 30g (2 tbsp) all purpose flour 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp (15 ml) lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract 1 egg for egg wash Instructions: Pie Crust: 1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt. 2. Add the cold butter and cut it into the flour with a pastry cutter or your fingertips until pea-sized pieces remain. 3. Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing gently until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix. 4. Divide the dough into two portions, with one slightly larger for the bottom crust. Shape into disks, wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Apple Filling: 1. Peel, core, and slice the apples to your preferred thickness. 2. Melt the butter in a saucepan, then add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and lemon juice. Mix well. 3. Cook over medium-low heat for 8-10 minutes, until the apples are softened and the liquid has thickened. 4. Stir in the vanilla, then remove from the heat and let cool completely. Assembly: 1. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the larger dough disk into a 3-4 mm thick circle. 2. Carefully transfer it to an 8-inch pie dish and gently press it into the bottom and sides. 3. Add the cooled apple filling and spread evenly. 4. Roll out the remaining dough, cut into strips, and arrange them into a lattice crust. 5. Trim the excess dough and crimp the edges to seal. Brush the crust with egg wash. 6. Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (425°F) for 20 minutes, then reduce to 190°C (375°F) and bake for another 35-45 minutes, or until golden brown. Cover the edges loosely with foil if they brown too quickly. 7. Let the pie cool for 3-4 hours before slicing. Enjoy! #baking #applepie #Recipe #fallbaking #pie
