@courtneyjordan_esq: Last week, I walked into the Muscogee Nation District Court as a Cherokee attorney and watched a felony case against my client get dismissed. They had been offered a plea deal. They chose to fight instead. I know what that decision feels like. Not as an attorney. As a defendant. I know the pressure to take the deal. I know that most people accept it not because they are guilty but because they do not believe they can win. We fought. We demanded the evidence. The prosecution had over 100 days to produce it and could not comply with the court's order. The Muscogee Nation District Court dismissed the case. No conviction. No plea. No record. Tribal justice worked. And the government had to prove its case. It could not. That is true in tribal court. That is true in federal court. That is true everywhere.
