@courtneyjordan_esq: Last week, I walked into the Muscogee Nation District Court as a Cherokee attorney and watched a felony case against my client get dismissed. They had been offered a plea deal. They chose to fight instead. I know what that decision feels like. Not as an attorney. As a defendant. I know the pressure to take the deal. I know that most people accept it not because they are guilty but because they do not believe they can win. We fought. We demanded the evidence. The prosecution had over 100 days to produce it and could not comply with the court's order. The Muscogee Nation District Court dismissed the case. No conviction. No plea. No record. Tribal justice worked. And the government had to prove its case. It could not. That is true in tribal court. That is true in federal court. That is true everywhere. You do not have to accept what they are offering. #TribalCourt #MuscogeeNation #CherokeeNation #CriminalDefense #IndianCountry
Glad it wasn't US District Court. It sure seems that Due Process, the right to a speedy trial, the right to confront your accuser, and the right to produce an affirmative defense are all out of fashion these days!

I lost all respect for Cherokee nation, Marshalls, when they failed Tray glass They had local police they had dogs they had drones. They had four wheelers. They had everything to do a proper search and they were out here waiting to do it and Cherokee nation called it off to save a dirty ex cop. But that’s not the only red flag in this case.

How does that work for people of color? Justice may be blind but American justice isn’t color blind.
