I really don't care how bad the album is, him calling her edgy and pretentious for the way she portrayed her experience with cancer is crazy. I even like what he's doing with music criticism as it's a dying art he's trying to keep alive, but there is always a respectful way to give negative critiques of emotional work and those ways weren't explored in his review. The recent tweets were also very petty and childish. Would like to see better from him.

Halsey made that record to illustrate very significant and poignant moments in her life. Even a casual fan could note that. You don’t have to think it’s good, but to also give it a 1 was him playing some type of game. It’s a wonderfully written project featuring some of her best work.

i’m a huge halsey fan, but even if you didn’t like the album there’s a way to say it that isn’t “you have main character syndrome and this isn’t good” there’s a way to critique and even criticize without belittling and insulting the trauma someone went through to make the album
