Just to let you know, the sign you are using for the English word “but” is actually the English word “understand” so in proper asl grammar you would sign “understand”. You are correct, just know that doesn’t mean the English work “but” if you wanted to sign “but” it would be the sign for “different”

Awwww, I'd love to learn with you! My three year old daughter is deaf but everyone else around is hearing. She's also autistic and has cochlear to implants. I want her to have a different way to communicate when sound becomes too overstimulating for her
