Hearing my name is so weird and personal. This has been a problem with dating because I get the ick when someone is using my name early on, OR it starts making the relationship seem more serious than it is because names are so intimate. I realize this makes no sense to a lot of people but I can’t help it.

That’s so interesting. I’m autistic too, but I’ve never experienced that. I just learned something new about the spectrum. Although, now that I think about it, I don’t really like sharing the names of people close to me. It feels too personal and intimate somehow, but I’m not sure if it’s the same thing

Oh, oh…is that what that is?… I literally refused to call my closest and dearest friend by a name for years because they had like three nicknames plus their actual name and I didn’t know which one I was “aloud” to call them by cuz they had other friends who all like exclusively used one name for them and I couldn’t possible use those assumably personal nicknames but I also didn’t want to be the only one who called their actual name, I’d seem like less of a friend. To this day, they are still “Friend” in my contacts and we call and text everyday…

I used to say 'my mum' when speaking to my dad about her and he would always tell me 'You don't have to call her Your Mum, I know she's your Mum. just say Mum.' .....😮💨😅🤐🫥

Genuine question. Does this also apply to nicknames? Like if you are told a person's nickname but know their real name, are you able to use the nickname easier? This isn't an aspect I struggle with so I'm fascinated.
