Hearing my name is so weird and personal. This has been a problem with dating because I get the ick when someone is using my name early on, OR it starts making the relationship seem more serious than it is because names are so intimate. I realize this makes no sense to a lot of people but I can’t help it.

That’s so interesting. I’m autistic too, but I’ve never experienced that. I just learned something new about the spectrum. Although, now that I think about it, I don’t really like sharing the names of people close to me. It feels too personal and intimate somehow, but I’m not sure if it’s the same thing

I don’t have this but I always feel weird saying people’s name when it isn’t a close friend. I never like calling out for people because I’m scared that maybe they won’t like me saying their name or I’m saying it wrong or maybe it isn’t their name and I’m saying it wrong :c

When I was a child, I couldn't bring myself to call my grandpa's ex-wife by her name. I thought, "No, she's not even my "real" grandma, she doesn't want me to call her by her name," so I would just say "Hey" to get her attention. My parents always said it was rude, and now I see that it was a little bit, but it was better than calling her by her name.
