Vance is managing the stockmarket. There is an AI boom on the verge of collapse and there are some IPO’s coming after Musks SpaceX, like ChatGPT going public. They cannot have the stock market falling due to Hormuz so Vance just brags about supposed huge amounts of oil and gas moving through the strait. Because a lot of trading is done by AI and speech analyses the market simply seems to take Vance’s words at face value because the AI is not capable enough to see someone lying through his teeth. But down the line humans will correct those AI decisions and not take Vance for his word and then the markets will to down and maybe some IPO’s will be called off.
