I didn’t clean mine for over 20 years (a row of baguette diamonds in a bezel setting so lots of nooks for stuff to catch). It didn’t smell at all.

The jewelry store she bought at Trump probably told her not to clean it herself because what they really meant was bring it back to us and pay us to clean it for you because that’s a way that they make money but she didn’t do that part she just heard that don’t clean it thing and then when she looked it up online, she probably type something like can I damage my jewelry by cleaning it and the answer to that question is yes you can so she missed the nuance because the original people have sold it to her were being greedy
