Baby’s development steps are fundamental to develop his ability to perceive and communicate with the world surrounding him, which happens through his muscle development (activation and strengthening), progressively more complex and the stimulation of his senses. These steps are meant to structure the brain to ensure the best performances for survival. The first step of development is the strengthening of his back and neck muscles. It starts when the neck and lumbar reflexes are acquired when baby goes through the birth canal: remodelling the skull, stretching and activating the spine for the body to be ready for the outside world, allowing to acquire the breast crawl. Survival skill to crawl to the breast. Then, roughly for the 3 first months, the Moro reflex allows to further activate these reflexes to strengthen the back and neck muscles. During the day, they are activated by the proper carriage which we describe in our videos for the first 4 months. At the same time baby is constantly pushing with his arms and legs, which can be stimulated through some exercises of grasping/lifting for his arms and pushing for the legs. Suction is important to reset the skull and oro-facial structures. Then baby starts to turn on his stomach around 4 months old. This will be possible as their back and neck will arch to engage the rotation of the pelvis while they push with the legs. Once they are on their tummy start the journey of exploration. Starting to do the wheelbarrow around 3 months will allow them to acquire a great strength in their arms and shoulders additionally to their back and neck. This will facilitate the possibility to hold their head when pushed forward. At 5 months they should be able to stand on their hands straight for a good period of time (15-20s) while you hold their legs. Around the same time they start to do crunches and develop the capacity to hold their head backward. Secondarily, around 4 months, you can start to push their legs forward alternatively. osteopathymalaysia #osteopathmalaysia #osteopathykl #osteopathytreatment #osteopathyhealth #malaysiahealthcare #naturalhealthmalaysia #wellnessmalaysia #baby #pediatrics #kids #development
