made no sense for tkachuk to leave Ottawa when they were on the upswing, played great down the stretch last year. got swept but tkachuk was a no show in all 4 games. kind of bummy move by him and I think even though it’s a good deal for Florida makes them a better team Ottawa will get the better of it as time passes.

My only concern is that if a GM declines a player's request to trade, will the player play up to their potential or slack going forward? Remembering that these guys are usually fairly young and, for lack of a better word, entitled/used to getting their own way. I don't know. Is this a concern for GMs?

These players are getting paid a significant contract to include a NMC. If a player requests a trade before his contract is up, he should have to pay some of his contract $$$ back.

with the nmc... for me.. if a PLAYER starts the convo - they should be essentially cancelling the clause and can be dealt to ANY team. By the same account, if a TEAM initiates - then player should be able to pick destination period.
