And this is just the psychological truth: Relationships that are built on a lie eventually fall apart, or they leave one or both people in significant pain. Because anything built on avoidance, secrecy, emotional dishonesty, self-betrayal, or pretending is not stable. It may look fine from the outside. It may even look peaceful. It may look like they moved on. It may look like they found something easier. But easy is not always healthy. Sometimes “easy” just means nobody is asking for the truth. Nobody is asking them to grow. Nobody is asking them to face their patterns. Nobody is asking them to take the mask off. Nobody is asking them to become emotionally honest. And that can work for a while. But eventually, the truth rises. The wound shows up. The pattern repeats. The mask gets heavy. The lie starts costing too much. Because what is not built on truth cannot hold the weight of real intimacy.
