@katelyn.raygoza: If you’ve been a physician liaison for more than five minutes, you’ve probably heard this one: “She’s actually in a meeting right now.” 😂 The first few times, you wonder if your timing is just off. By the tenth time, you’re genuinely invested in how that meeting is going. But in all seriousness, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned over the years is not to take things personally. Office managers are juggling schedules, patient issues, staffing challenges, provider requests, and about a hundred other things before we ever walk through the door. Their “not today” usually isn’t about us. The liaisons who succeed long-term aren’t always the most charismatic or the most polished. They’re the ones who stay consistent, respect people’s time, continue providing value, and keep showing up even when they don’t get immediate access. Relationships in healthcare are built over months and years, not one perfectly timed visit.
