@iswellthecapitalist: Fuel importers were losing their market to Dangote, then eventually they found a loophole... Dangote sells fuel cheaper to foreign traders than to Nigerian marketers, so they go to Togo, buy the same Dangote fuel, and ship it back to Nigeria And even after shipping costs, it’s still ₦65 cheaper per litre. Between March–May 2026, 70-80% of fuel imported by sea was Dangote fuel that left Nigeria and came back. But why is Nigerian fuel cheaper to buy from Togo? #fuel #creatorsearchinsights #dangote #import #financetok

If they explain this country to you. You will run mad. The problem is the taxation on dangote for selling in Nigeria. If those taxes are removed fuel can go as low as 600

For those that don't understand, Dangote exports cheaper to neighbouring countries to compete globally, why isn't it cheaper in Nigeria? Because local prices in Nigeria are higher due to taxes, distribution fees, or pricing regulations. And for the importers it's a case of Arbitrage, buying low in one market and selling higher in another market

It is the same thing with Dangote Cement, but i suspect that government policy and tax caused the difference.
