Well I live in Germany and I personally don’t think Ukraine has to explain their own narrative, because European media is already doing it for them. This is why Russia is so successful, because Europe is underreporting stuff or doing really bad journalism, so ones people get caught lying the Russian narrative wins. People are angry that their money is wasted and Russia takes advantage of that. It also does not help when just recently one state funded media was interviewing a Neonazi in Ukraine who had a Nazi symbol in the background. They portrayed him as a brave soldier, this is a huge no go, just solidifying distrust in Ukraine.

Kinda feels like they overplayed their hand, all that effort and what did it really get Russia? It certainly didn’t get them Ukraine, maybe they should have spent that propaganda money on more air defense and their oil refineries wouldn’t be going airborne right now.

I also see some of historical influence. A lot of it. Ukraine is still seen by many as modern country that exists just now,and doesn't feel to have same weight as some other countries in their minds,but more people know about russia and their version if history.

I think you’re right Russians are excellent at this media stuff. I think they have people embedded around the world whilst Ukraine is fighting for its life, Now, however, I notice things are shifting across the board in Ukraine‘s favour.

the reason goes beyond that I'd say. Russia exports a lot of culture westerners hold in very high regard (Dostoevsky etc) making Russia very omnipresent and likeable. Israel has a similar problem to Ukraine in that sense where they aren't present beyond the wars
