Don’t listen to this. Been in HVAC/R for almost 20 years. Yes the top tier one isn’t needed, but buying the cheapest weakest one just allows more debris to impact onto your evaporator, leading to an evaporator cleaning that only a tech can do. Costing you more money. Get a mid range filter, change them every 2-3 months.

Hey guys, one time I forgot to change the filter for two years. So. I’m sure no matter what filter you get, as long as you don’t forget about it for two years, you’ll be fine 😅

I use the cheap Merv 1 rated air filters and I changed them every 30 days . I don’t fall for the gimmick of those more expensive air filters never have never will !

As a homeowner of 26 years with very bad allergies, I disagree with the recommendation. I used to use the lowest for many years but had to stop. I also use an air purifier. My breathing issues have all but disappeared. I'll pay the higher light bill

Hvac guys say buy the cheaper filter that doesn't filter as great so more dirt gets in the condenser/blower unit so they can come work on your stuff more often 😂

The cheapest filter you can buy every 30 days the bigger the thicker the filter the harder it is for the motor to pull air through it.

Most manufacturers recommend a Merv8 filter and they state it in the owners manual. Anything higher will cause air flow restriction and can cause damage to the system. Any lower or cheap filters will cause dirt and dust buildup in evaporator coils and some secondary heat exchangers. Twenty + years in HVAC have seen a lot of failed systems due to wrong filters
