I understand the rule as, you’re not supposed to know the seed as you load into the world for the run. Since he later realised that he had gotten a the same seed, I’d say that the run counts

when making rulings like that, one of the main things to consider is if/how it can be abused. being familiar with the random seed is not something a player can control. sure, they can try to memorize dozens of seeds, but there will always be infinitely more that they can't. its extremely unlikely for a person to get lucky in this way, and impossible to game in any reasonable way, so i think it should be legal

If there is proof that the seed was in fact random, then that also means its replicable for any other player, and should count.

well someone could theoretically research every single seed possible, so if they did that would they suddenly be banned from speed running? if not, that run isn’t cheated
