Literally. I’m so glad I’ve found your page! I wish I could share this 10000 times. 🖤 literally, talked to a man for 6 months. Told him in the first month. Waited 6 months, then decided it was an issue and left. That was harder than when I was first diagnosed.

Also everyone, it’s important to say: some people never get a breakout. Some people only get one. Some people get them every once in a while. Some get them frequently. There is medicine (ex Valtrex or Valacyclovir) and supplements (ex Lysine) to reduce / treat outbreaks. Idk how I did not touch on this.

I have herpes! Genital HSV1. Got them from my partner who didn’t know they had a cold sore coming on (we both knew we had oral hsv well before this). I’m the cautionary tale you believe will never happen to you or anyone you know. Despite only having one outbreak, if I disclose its genital and oral, people will say no to having sex with me (reasonable choice I’m supportive of) however those same people would 1000% let me give them head not understanding that they’re more likely to get it from my mouth than my genitals by a significant percentage. Also no one is disclosing their cold sores if they don’t have an active one and it’s not legally required a lot of the time because kissing isn’t always considered “sexual contact” but as soon as it’s on my genitals I can be held liable in court despite it being less transmissible (for hsv1 specifically) but whateverrrrrr
