Yep, the older we get the smaller the circle gets. You can't be there for them all the time. Stop and think, are you always the one reaching out and they only reach out when they need something? You don't have to keep score, but think about how often they call just to see how you are? Odds are, there a very few.

I had a "friend" for 40 years. She was a neighbor, she had no car, I got her a job where I worked. I thought we had a great relationship. Years passed, both our spouses passed, our kids grew up, we retired & I decided to sell my home and move. I no longer lived next door to take her out to eat, shopping, grocery store, hair appts. And she literally stopped answering when I called. All those years I found I was just a car to her.

I have a small circle of friends now…. the rest have been regulated as acquaintances… when I couldn’t give anymore … suddenly, things got quiet on their end.

the other thing to distinguish when ur helping someone....u have to recognize the difference of ....do they need help....or do they want u to do it for them.... their is a very large difference
