@ariba_p: Last photos from our year in Trinidad. Our favourite little chapter has come to an end. A couple years ago, we made the decision to switch to virtual learning so we could spend time travelling together. Not everyone thought it was a good idea. Some people thought we were crazy. Others warned us about what the kids might miss. But all I could think was... what if they missed this? Growing up, I moved around a lot. By the time I got to high school, I had lived in four countries and attended four different high schools. Looking back, one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me was the opportunity to learn beyond their own bubble. Maybe that's also why my ADHD and I have always been suspicious of staying in one place for too long. 😂 Different people.
Different cultures.
Different ways of living. It taught me how to adapt. How to be comfortable in unfamiliar places. How to recognize when I've outgrown a chapter and have the confidence to start a new one. It's a skill that has served me my entire life. The kids have learned from beaches, airports, road trips, fishing boats, cities, small towns, new friends and family. Over the past couple years they were exploring Trinidad and Tobago, spending weekends in Montreal, fishing up north, or making memories at cottages in Ontario. They've experienced places like New York, LA, Miami, Mexico, Jamaica, Cuba, Bahamas and the DR… each one teaching them something different about the world and the people in it. Different backgrounds, different accents, different traditions, cuisines. They’ve learned that there isn't just one way to live a good life. There is absolutely nothing wrong with raising children in the same community for 18+ years. There is beauty in roots. We've simply chosen to focus on wings. Looking back, I'm really glad we didn't let other people's fears become our own. We trusted our intuition, took the leap, and gave our kids an experience that will stay with them long after this chapter ends. #trinidadandtobago #pigeonpointtobago #homeschoolfamily #travellingwithkids #FamilyTravel

Even though I live in America 24yrs now, Trinidad will Always be that special place in my ❤️. I'm an American Citizen, but Trinidad will always be my home. I can't wait to eat the fresh fruits, fish and vegetables. My mom planted corn, papaya and so many other veggies, not to mention the fresh eggs from her hens. My daughter and I visit next week and can't wait. I always will say you and your family are so lovely ❤️
