I’ve owned Subaru’s since 1992 I had a CVT transmission on my 2014 Legacy Subaru. It cost me 3000 to fix it.

had a 20 sti only did pulls when it was warmed up let it idle before driving didn’t hit any boost in 6th gear did oil changes at 3500 with motul and cracked a ring at 25k miles couldn’t trust it anymore lol

can't keep mine alive 2 iag blocks blow under 3k miles my last one was 950 closed deck with 705 to wheels on e85 and on way home same day as dyno broke a rod in middle

This isn’t a problem but the Subaru “factory freak” conspiracy. Used to be a Toyota tech for almost a decade and worked for Subaru for a bit. My STi when it was new and stock felt like it pulled harder than my coworkers stock stis. We always joked that I had a “factory freak”. Have you heard of this? This rumor was based off of techs telling us some STis had slightly different/more aggressive factory tunes or some of their later models were getting RA internals by accident. Anyways, I think it was just a rumor from my wrenching days lol

FA OWNERS READ: If you’re smoking from your exhaust, it’s very unlikely that it’s your turbo. These garrets are designed exceptionally well. First clean your PCV. If it still persists after a tank or 2 of gas, could be your rings.

I’ve never once had a problem with the motor, going on 100k miles now stage 2+ on cobb. HOWEVER, the non sti 6 speeds suck I’ve gone through 2 of them they got locked out especially with making more power than stock
