This same sort of thing happened in the Gabby Pettito and Brian Laundry case. There were many wild theories claiming Brian was alive and in all of these different places. The FBI continued working in the background with local police in looking at the reserve. They had to wait to search the reserve because of the flooding. Meanwhile people were saying Brian was every where else. Once the water receded at the reserve, Brian's Dad went into the reserve and showed the Police where his son was. Then the FBI made their statement to the public. Once they confirmed it was Brian. And throughout all of this, Brian's Parents weren't talking except through their lawyer. They were saying through the lawyer they did not know where their son was. But at the end, it was the Dad that showed LE where his son was. So, the FBI knows, they are going to come to it and we are all going to say, I knew it!! But until then, we have to wait.
