Money buys safety, security and stability. Lack of these things cause anxiety and depression. This is even before mentioning that doing fun things is often expensive - it costs money or time, which are intrinsically linked.

People say “money can buy happiness” grew up in emotionally healthy families, so life is already great if they could just pay for stuff. I’d argue an emotionally healthy family, because you can always be rich but you either have an emotionally healthy family or you don’t.
