@cutoffthespigot: Browser Alternatives! Part 2 of my De-Google Series, check out Part 1 for Search Alternatives ☺️ Recommended: European-Based Option: Vivaldi, available on Desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux), iOS, Android DuckDuckGo: available on Desktop (Mac, Windows), iOS, Android Maximum Privacy: Tor Browser, available on Desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux), Android Mullvad Browser: available on Desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux) Open-source & Community-Led: LibreWolf, available on Desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux) Other companies I looked at but don’t recommend: Mozilla/Firefox: Mozilla partnered with OneRep, a personal data removal service, to offer their service for their Mozilla Monitor Plus. OneRep’s founder also created dozens of people-search companies and continued to operate a data broker, all of which are dangerous to privacy. While Mozilla was made aware of this in March 2024, they continued to work with OneRep until December 2025 when they discontinued the Mozilla Monitor Plus service. Brave: received investment from Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund and The CEO and co-founder Brendan Eich gave money to support anti-gay marriage bill Prop 8 in California, and tweeted stuff like “Fauci lies a lot” during COVID. Vivaldi is so customizable + can group tabs into workareas so for the people with 300+ tabs it's amaazing

duckduckgo is pro ai and has used ai for easter egg versions of its logo, they have an off switch for ai, but they are very much all for ai

So, you don’t actually need AI :
Okay Vivaldi is the best one, we love an employee owned option

I like Zen bc it’s built on Firefox and I can’t live without container tabs

I love Vivaldi to death, but it's still Chromium-based so it's more "less-googling" your life than de-googling. incredible features for a browser though

Unfortunately, Firefox is the only choice since everything else is downstream from Chromium. They can customize it as much as they want, but ultimately Google decides what happens.

I've been using Vivaldi for the better part of a decade. Not only is it customizable but you can sync work your phone and access tabs from any device you're signed into.

waterfox is easily best, you can find the same settings that librewolf has in about:config (just have to turn them on) and it's faster. waterfox also has a built in adblocker! but I use it with ublock origin and privacy badger

I went from Google Chrome to Canary to Thorium to Chromium.
Now I'm testing out Brave. It's pretty good, but I like Chromium for general use.
I guess I have to try this one too just because I'm Scandinavian.

What about Ecosia? They use 80% of their profits for planting trees and other eco projects. Used for a while now.

Zen based on Firefox is the way for a genuinely fun, non-chromium browser. Ladybird is one to watch, but likely won't release until 2028
