As a real estate broker, I can say that this is a marketing strategy for engagement. The goal is to get people to comment, ask questions or get a direct message to start a conversation. The person responding may not be interested in the listing being advertized, but they may be interested in buying or selling a home and need a real estate broker to help them. Building those connections is the real purpose behind those posting - not just advertising the property to sell.

As for someone who also is a licensed real estate agent. Nothing annoys me more than when other real estate agents post something and don’t have a price forcing you to go to their webpage or link just so they can say they got more “hits”… 🙄 same for fsbo.. also if you are a fsbo, post in your listing that you’re willing to work with a buyers agent.. because technically a fsbo who works with a buyers agent is getting all that paperwork and all the legal stuff done for them for free on the buyers end.. in my state a fsbo can work with a buyers agent for 2% (buyers agent fees) rather than paying a listing agent 6-7% 🤷🏻♀️

For realtors , when they post a link .. and someone clicks on it and gives them their info for a lead. And then they can access the full info. Realtors work solely off commission so letting every lead slip away is bad for business. Of course there are pushy agents but the good ones will secure the buyer just by being a knowledgeable agent. You wouldn’t understand unless you have a real estate buisness ..

I have never ever ever understood it!!! especially for something so minimal, like a pair of shoes, or a fishing pole. "message me for price" I have literally messaged. got the price. went immediately to the comment section and said "They told me it's x amount of $$$"

Similar but not the same… you know what’s fun as a coach? Sending out a thorough message with lots of detail, and immediately getting responses from parents asking questions where the answer is RIGHT FREAKING THERE. “Everyone needs to be at the fieldhouse by 2:30. We’re going to leave at 3:15.” “Hey Coach, what time do the boys need to be at the fieldhouse?”

My husband and I have a business where we flip furniture and I’ll put EVERYTHING you would need to know in the listing and I’ll still get messages asking those things. I don’t reply or ask if they even bothered to read it.
