@tonyvanderhoef: Congress lost its most important power. The power to declare war. Since Truman sent troops into Korea in 1950 without asking Congress, calling it a “police action,” every president since has leaned on that precedent, Vietnam, Kosovo, Libya, Syria, and now Iran, acting alone while Congress goes silent. This week the Senate failed for the eighth time to check Trump’s war powers in Iran, 47 to 48, even as Bill Cassidy, a senator Trump pushed out of office in May for not being loyal enough, voted his conscience anyway on his way out. It didn’t matter. Congress still doesn’t know the full terms of the actual Iran deal. This isn’t about one president or one party. It’s about whether we’re still governing by the constitutional blueprint the founders left us, or just pretending to. Full breakdown in my piece for the @washingtonexaminer 🔗 in bio. — #war #congress #iran #politics #History

Charles Fritz :
It’s crazy how willing Congress is to give up power to the executive branch. They aren’t there to govern.

Actually many of the revolutionaries were not actually against the King and their critique of him was largely he failed to use the power he had to stop parliament for their abuse and control of the colonies.
