@romania: When did you last pause? There are sunsets, and then there is Brașov seen from Tâmpa, when the last light pours across the valley like molten honey. Every tiled roof catches fire, every church tower stretches its shadow across streets first laid out by Saxon settlers more than seven centuries ago, and the surrounding Carpathians stand like ancient guardians watching another day quietly disappear. Brașov grew into one of medieval Transylvania's most important trading cities, linking East and West through its bustling guilds and fortified walls. Much of that legacy still survives beneath this view. The Black Church, Romania's largest Gothic church, rises above a labyrinth of ochre façades, hidden courtyards and cobbled alleys, while the forests of Tâmpa Nature Reserve descend almost to the city's edge. As evening settles, the mountains turn indigo, chimney smoke begins to curl into the cooling air, and the entire old town glows with the warm, impossible light photographers spend lifetimes chasing. Some places ask for a photograph. Others quietly remind you how small a single lifetime really is. The sun sinks beyond ridge after ridge, but the city below has watched this same spectacle through wars, empires, merchants, pilgrims and dreamers without ever growing tired of it.
