@hackwithbanks_: FREE CCNA LAB 001 – Basic Networking Fundamentals Welcome to CCNA Lab 001! Before configuring routers and switches, it's important to understand the basics of networking. What is a Network? A network is a group of devices connected together to share data and resources. Examples include computers, smartphones, printers, switches, and routers. Key Networking Devices: • Router – Connects different networks and directs traffic between them. • Switch – Connects devices within the same network and forwards data to the correct destination. • Hub – Broadcasts data to all connected devices without filtering. • Access Point (AP) – Provides wireless connectivity to devices. • Firewall – Monitors and filters incoming and outgoing network traffic. Understanding IP Addresses: An IP address is a unique identifier assigned to a device on a network. Example: 192.168.1.10 Every device on a network must have a unique IP address to communicate properly. Understanding LAN and WAN: • LAN (Local Area Network) – A network within a small area such as a home, school, or office. • WAN (Wide Area Network) – Connects multiple LANs over large geographical distances. The Internet is the largest WAN. Basic Data Flow: PC → Switch → Router → Internet When you open a website, data travels through your switch, router, ISP, and eventually reaches the destination server. Why Learn Networking? ✅ Foundation for CCNA ✅ Essential for Cybersecurity ✅ Required for System Administration ✅ Helps troubleshoot connectivity issues ✅ Builds understanding of how the Internet works Lab Objective: Understand the purpose of routers, switches, IP addresses, LANs, and WANs before moving into device configuration and packet analysis. #CCNA #Networking #Cisco #NetworkEngineer #CyberSecurity
