I know you study social skills and I’m curious about something. Have you ever met an individual who, idk, just didn’t care about social stuff? Like I know humans are social creatures but have you ever met anyone who broke that rule? (You make good videos btw.)

I feel like I always get stuck, I’m fine in the initial interaction, might even hang out with them multiple times, but the relationship always feels just so surface level, and then I just tire of it and the relationship fizzles out. I try to be engaging, caring and open, but I feel there’s some sort of glass wall I meet, and I can’t seem to move past it. I have friends I can invite to hang out with, friends id know would join me for a party or a picnic, but never ones i feel i can call to just kill some time, or who i feel would reach out to me if they needed to talk. Im grateful i have friends i can do activities with, but I wish I knew what i could do to foster connections that go beyond pleasant small talk and jokes.

low-pressure invitations (or invitations at all) is soooo huge. I get so excited when a friend texts me, but I'm petrified to text them out of the blue, just to talk (i.e. no substantial external reason). once you text someone a few times, you realize they won't hate you just for texting at a bad time

if you know you struggle with having body language that is perceived as positive, you can sometimes call that out. like, "I know it doesn't always show on my face, but I'm really enjoying this conversation"

I struggle cause I don't know how to answer beyond like a one word answer, and my voice being so monotone doesn't help lol
