Mostly agree, but I feel you are missing a little nuance. Tech, including smart home tech can absolutely be used to unobtrusively enhance your life without detracting from a meaningful and tactile way of interacting with the world.

I bought my mom a smart washing machine that allows me to run a cycle via my phone.. I have to manually turn it on before running it via my phone. Guess who never used the phone to run a cycle

I hate that my smart thermostat, thinks it knows more than me. I keeps changing the termperature - no matter how many times I try to set a schedule for the heat to go on and off.
