As someone who works in and around airports, one of the basic rules of travel is not to put valuables, jewellery, cash or anything irreplaceable in checked luggage. I’m really sorry this happened to you. Hopefully the airline and insurance can help.

Jewelry never gets packed in a checked or carry on. It is in your bag yiu put under your seat, jewelry or anything valuable is with you at all time and not even up above you in the overheads, that’s another huge NO!

If you go travel insurance or if you paid it by a credit card that has travel insurance, you should be able to file a claim.
