@bootylicious.101: You don’t know what it’s like to not be perceived as a human being. #prettyprivilege #prettypunishment #beauty #beautystandard #pretty
tbh it really does exist. until you’ve had people actively try and succeed at getting you fired from jobs because they’re threatened by you, you wouldn’t know. until you’ve had people bully, haze you/ purposely exclude you at jobs, you wouldn’t know. until you’ve had people call you standoffish for being an introvert but the moment you show any ounce of personality, someone purposely misunderstands your every word/action, you wouldn’t know. until you’ve experienced people thinking you’re stupid bc you prioritize your looks, you wouldn’t know. some people purposely give you a hard time and make your experience bad solely bc you’re pretty as a way of humbling you. that’s literally called punishing someone for the way they look. yes, there are certain privileges you get from society from being pretty. but there’s a curse to every blessing. just like not being considered “pretty” is dehumanizing so can being attractive. women see you as competition instead of a person that has feelings. and men treat you like a piece of meat instead of a person that has feelings. it can be overwhelming at times. and btw making it seem like pretty people don’t struggle too (just in different ways) is an example of pretty punishment. just bc you don’t know how it feels, doesn’t mean it isn’t a real thing.

Pretty privilege is real and outweighs pretty punishment overall, but that doesn't mean pretty punishment never occurs. Someone complaining about being mistreated for being "pretty" in absolutely no way invalidates the person who is complaining about being mistreated for being "ugly" and vice versa. It may seem it does though because most people simply lack nuance and empathy both online and IRL.

but your energy is exactly what people are talking about... just bc someone's pretty doesn't mean they don't face hardships bc of it 🤣 I think everyone does in their own way and one isn't more valid than the other it's just perspective.

Ehh I wouldn’t call it pretty punishment fs 😭 but jealousy/envy can and will negatively impact aspects of someone’s life. There is also intersectionality, for example, being a pretty black woman will cause some weird reactions from white women

There is, and I would compare it to how ppl say “more money more problems”. Ofc it’s a different set of problems but problems none the less.

As someone who has been ugly, and then “pretty” there is no such thing as punishment 😭 yes there’s more attention that can come from men which feels disgusting. But men will always harass women “conventionally” attractive or not. Now there’s JEALOUSY, but that’s not necessarily a punishment 😭

It does I’ve seen my gorgeous friends be negged because people want to make them feel less than. As someone that’s been ugly and beautiful 😅 being invisible is far better than being attacked
