@therootnews: Marlana Kendricks traveled over two hours from Cleveland to Columbus to oppose Ohio’s new Medicaid bill, HB 795. The Republican-backed bill would ban family members of Medicaid recipients from being certified caregivers. During a tense and emotional testimony in front of the Ohio House Medicaid Committee on June 8, Kendricks explained how she cares for her son, 11-year-old O'syah, and how she had to cut her work hours and take a steep pay cut to take care of him. Without Medicaid, they couldn’t survive financially. Her son has a rare developmental disability that leaves him nonverbal, prone to seizures, and in need of help with daily activities.   In her written testimony before speaking publicly, Kendricks wrote: “How can you propose a bill that takes away the little we’ve benefited from for years! If your only solution to address fraud is to rob from the good, you don’t belong on this committee or in your state representative position.
