Happy 22nd Birthday, Isaiah! My baby boy though you are no longer a boy but a man today I celebrate you. Twenty-two years ago, you came into my life and forever shifted its meaning. No words will ever fully capture how grateful I am to be your mom, but on this milestone birthday, I want to try. From the first moment I held you, I knew my world had changed. You were so small, so fragile, yet you carried with you the biggest love I had ever felt. Those first nights holding you against my chest, listening to your soft breathing, I promised myself I would love you, protect you, and guide you the best I could. And though I am far from perfect, that promise has never once left my heart. I look back over the years and see a thousand memories that tell the story of who you are. I remember your laughter as a child, how easily it filled every room and lifted every heart. I remember the curiosity in your eyes as you asked question after question, hungry to know how the world worked. I remember scraped knees, school projects, little triumphs and big ones, moments when you were proud of yourself and moments when you weren’t sure you could keep going and yet, every time, you did. As a teenager, I saw you wrestling with who you were, as all young people must. There were times I worried for you, times I wanted to step in and shield you from the world, but I also knew you needed to grow into yourself. Watching you find your way, sometimes stumbling, sometimes soaring, was both hard and beautiful. It reminded me that strength isn’t about never falling it’s about always standing back up. And that’s what you’ve done, time and again. Now at 22, I see a man standing before me intelligent, compassionate, strong, resilient, and kind. You have grown into someone who thinks deeply, cares sincerely, and dreams boldly. You may not even realize the impact you’ve already had on those around you. The way you listen, the way you encourage others, the way you show up it all matters more than you know. At this age, life can feel overwhelming. There are so many choices, so many unknowns, so many paths to take. You may feel the weight of expectation from the world, from yourself, even from me. But here’s what I want you to know you are already enough. Who you are, right now, is enough. You don’t need to prove your worth through titles or accomplishments, because your worth has always been in your heart, your soul, and the way you love people. I also want to remind you that life is not a straight line. You will have detours, delays, maybe even disappointments. But those moments do not define you. What defines you is the courage to keep moving forward, to keep learning, to keep growing. And I have no doubt you will. Every time I see how you rise after difficulty, how you hold onto hope even when it’s hard, I know you have what it takes to build a life you’re proud of. As you stand at the doorway of adulthood, I want to give you this advice, from my heart to yours Be kind, even when it costs you something. Kindness will always come back to you in ways you cannot imagine Stay curious. Keep asking questions. Keep exploring. Life is too big and too beautiful to ever stop learning Protect your joy. The world will try to take it sometimes, but remember that happiness is not found in things, but in moments, in relationships, in love. Stay true to yourself. There will be pressure to fit into boxes that aren’t meant for you. Don’t let anyone else write your story. That belongs to you. Never forget where you come from, but also don’t be afraid to outgrow it. You are allowed to expand, to dream bigger, to step into new chapters. And most importantly: never forget how deeply you are loved. My love for you is not conditional, not dependent on what you achieve, not shaken by mistakes. It is steady, constant, and eternal. No matter where life takes you, no matter how near or far you are, you will always have a home in my heart. On this 22nd birthday, I celebrate not just your age
