Our volunteers and staff work hard, often outdoors in the Texas heat, and staying hydrated is essential to keeping everyone healthy, safe, and energized. Take Sam for example, he’s a hardworking team member working primarily outdoors and like every living being…we need water. Water bottles are expensive and also accumulate waste so we’re exploring solutions. 3 water dispensers and eventually 2 permanent water stations for volunteers and staff. Before the sanctuary ever existed, our humble beginnings were rooted in sustainable living. While traveling and camping with our animals, we learned how to create simple, eco friendly solutions that reduced waste and honored the land we lived on. Now that we are settled and growing, we are bringing those same values home to the sanctuary. With more help at the sanctuary, we can focus not just on daily care, but on measuring the impact we are making on animals, people, and the planet. One value that has always mattered deeply to me is avoiding single use plastic. This includes commonly used items like water bottles, plastic straws, individually wrapped snacks, and other disposable items that quickly turn into unnecessary waste. Our goal is simple. We want our volunteers, staff, and guests to have access to clean drinking water without creating more trash. We are asking for help with three water dispensers and funds toward filtered water.
