@persecondnews.ng: An 18-year-old woman from Ebonyi State who was allegedly brutally assaulted by her husband has sparked widespread concern after pleading with activists and medical personnel not to involve the police despite her severe injuries. The young woman was rushed for treatment after the alleged attack, but reportedly begged those trying to help her not to have her husband arrested. According to witnesses, the victim feared that her husband’s mother, who she claimed already disliked her, would blame her for any arrest and make her situation worse. However, the husband has since been arrested and is being held at the Isheri Oshun Police Station in Lagos State, while the victim remains hospitalised receiving treatment. Further findings reportedly revealed that the man had been in a relationship with the teenager since she was 15 years old and that she was allegedly forced to abandon her education to be with him. Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the case.
