Blessing :
As someone who has built a brand and business model that benefits from travelling across the African continent, Vusi should be careful not to undermine the very principles that have contributed to his success. The income he earns from engagements across Africa is itself a form of intra-African trade in skills, knowledge and expertise.
That is why I find some of his remarks regarding the activities of the March and March movement disappointing. The discourse often appears less concerned with evidence-based solutions and more focused on directing hostility towards fellow Africans.
Given Vusi's expertise in strategy, business, economics and finance, I would have expected a more nuanced analysis of South Africa's challenges. Reports from various commissions of inquiry, the Auditor-General, the Special Investigating Unit, and even the State Capture Commission have repeatedly highlighted corruption, governance failures, maladministration, weak service delivery, crime, infrastructure decline and policy uncertainty as major contributors to the country's economic difficulties.
Yet, during election cycles, foreigners frequently become convenient scapegoats for problems whose causes are far more complex and deeply rooted. A strategic thinker should be leading with facts, evidence and sustainable solutions rather than narratives that risk fuelling division and resentment.
I have always respected Vusi's business acumen, which is precisely why I find his position on this issue particularly disappointing.
