Yeah Rhaena didn’t help things, but she managed to bond with Sheepstealer well/long enough to get to Dragonstone. She couldn’t know that she wouldn’t have that same control in battle. She was also fostered at Driftmark, that was her grandfathers fleet LITERALLY on fire and for the first time in her life she could actually help. Also, Sheepstealer going wild didn’t ACTUALLY hurt Baela or Jace, they were able to keep control of their dragons just fine. Baela and Moondancer in particular flew circles around Sheepstealer and didn’t get hit by dragon fire, claws, arrows or harpoons. Maybe Jace just wasn’t as good at dragon riding as he thought he was, and should have stayed his ass on Dragonstone like his mother and Queen ordered him to.
