My parents keep on saying that a down payment on a house is the best thing for me right now. I just don't see why. I mean, I get that I pay very little on the first thing I put down, but I end up paying more in the long run. But, I am only 16 years old and probably just not understanding. Can someone explain it to me?

this is hugely risky. most banks wont do 50% or more unless you have millions. plus the invested funds are locked in as collateral.
