I saw that Spokane approved a year long moratorium on large data centers! Companies may pivot to converting existing buildings into small data centers (ex Starbucks HQ Sodo building conversion proposal). I'm in Tacoma and one strategy we've been using is reminding city council of better property uses like affordable housing, community centers, generative&performance art spaces, parks, etc. Still a lot of advocacy needed but wanted to share! Water is life, it's wild to me that DAPL was 10 years ago and we're stilling fighting for clean water!!

I emailed city council and surrounding commissioners!!!! As far as I know I believe they passed a moratorium (or they are about to if not yet). The city councilors that responded to me don’t agree with the building of these.
