the only reason jax is trans is because gooseworx is.. if she wasn’t trans there is NO way jax would’ve been — because all jax is is a self insert, a terribly written one. if he was treated more as a character instead of an insert im more than sure that jax wouldn’t have been a hated so much AND she would’ve been a better character. jax is such a wasted opportunity and deserved so much better, as the episodes progressed he became less of a character and more of a self insert and it was so obvious as her writing got worse and the episodes focused on him more.. all that screen time and build up just for her to become abstracted and somewhat still get a good ending despite being horrible to make himself feel better. i can understand to some extent what goose was displaying jax as i could actually see what she was going for but like i said as the episodes started to revolve around jax and never really tell us any of her backstory and more about him up until the last episode which should have focused on ALL the characters and secrets, it was clear she was more of a filler character and was just the centre stage for goose’s sake (saying this as a jax fan) [cry]

It’s so crazy to me that during a time where trans people are demonised, gooseworx thought it’d be appropriate for her trans woman character to attack and be cruel to the other female characters to the point that they’re scared of her.

I knew media literacy on TikTok was bad but come on! Jax serves as an exploration of the tragically internally and externally destructive quality of trauma and self-loathing as imposed by external social pressure on the trans experience. Saying Gooseworx was trying to make anyone feel bad for Jax is such a surface read. The intent was more likely to describe the harm that stigmatizing the trans experience can cause for individuals and communities at large by forcing shame to be a component of an already fraught psychological space. The feeling of aggressively pushing people away once they “know” and of feeling exposed is real and rarely presented in media. So often it is portrayed as a joyful liberation, but real life is more complicated than that. We’re not children and we shouldn’t think like medieval peasants, so we need to stop looking at stories as moral lessons and start looking at them as investigations of thoughts and experiences.

Jax being trans doesn't make sense, not once in the circus or irl does he use she/her pronouns or been referred to by any other alternative ones, never transitioned and the show never built that up to reveal it at the end, Gooseworkz said it in one post based on an alternative version of the show, not the show we watched.

imo i like jax's character. but the execution of it was horrible. if jax is transfem then why isnt his irl counterpart trans. its 2026, Glitch is an indie studio, Gooseworx couldve said it out loud instead of being subtle.

Honestly I feel like they just used their time wrong. The ideas are good, even Jax being trans as a parallel to gooseworx own experiences as a sort of bad ending alternative to herself, but they used like 6 episodes just having adventures that yes, shaded the characters in, but didn’t set up anything about where they were /going/, just where they came from. It either should’ve been more episodes, or they should’ve managed their pacing a lot better. The pacing is just off in this entire show for the length that it is, it’s either gotta progress faster or have more episodes and be paced the same
