@desperatetodoable: The hardest part of visiting a loved one with memory loss is the heartbreaking feeling that your efforts don’t matter because they won’t remember. 🥹💜 A daughter visited her mom in memory care every day with her headphones… She would lay next to her mom and listen to her favorite music together. It became a very special time of connection. 💜 Your visits may have to change… but they still matter. It’s okay to stop measuring love by memory. If this resonates with you, please save this post for the days when the caregiving journey feels a little too heavy. You are doing a wonderful job. 💜 From desperate to doable @desperatetodoable #dementia #caregivers #alzheimers #memorycare #caregiver
So very true, my beautiful mum suffered from Dementia for 13 years she had a massive brain hemirrage 7 months ago , whilst in palliative care she was unconscious for 8 days but she was squeezing my hand right up until her last breath , she felt I was there with her she did not want to let my hand go - it is a horrible illness, God Bless everyone else that is caring for their loved one

So true. My dad visits my mom in memory care every day. Not only does it help her, but I believe it helps her remember who he is, which would be a huge tragedy for my dad.

This is exactly what I told my mom in the early stages. She said she didn’t want to live if she didn’t know our names. I said you’ll always know how we make you feel!! 💜

Thank you! My dad is living with moderate vascular dementia. Though his memory is failing, he finds so much joy in the hobbies he loved as a 14-year-old. Speaking to him gently, reminiscing about the old days, and reassuring him of our constant love keeps him in a happy, peaceful mood nearly all day. I'm still learning as a caregiver, but focusing on a zero-stress environment has truly made all the difference.💕

I hope my mom still felt my love and not my fear I had every day I took care of her! I was so scared, sad, and anxious about losing her!! 😞

I detest it when people insist that I remember something……but I don’t and they keep insisting it hurts.

Thank you for reminding me, I get into my 24/7 care giving mode! And I’m forgetting to hug and kiss him. No deliberately but because I’m so busy and tired, taking care of him.
