Part of this issue is people are reading unchallenging books written at an early high school grade level. Another part of it is for some reason people cannot imagine a social space that is not a school. TV shows and movies alike use a school setting and then try to introduce adult conflicts. Maybe it’s because we don’t have other places where we meet new people our age, maybe writers are being as relatable as possible so they use a setting with which everyone is familiar. Either way, I wish writers would just write about adult life in adult settings
