PLEASE READ - 🤯🤣 - To everyone saying there is no way to cross when the creek mouth is TEMPORARILY draining. In FACT yes there is a bridge, sidewalk and access from the beach. We don’t want this water sitting stagnant increasing bacteria and causing mosquitos! There was West Nile Virus in Newport Beach recently. Not too far from here. This “Estuary Restoration Project” is a JOKE. And not what they say it is. It’s a “beautification project and new entry way” .. and they want to ad a street light. Which would cause WAY more traffic. This creek mouth has to drain. The longer it sits stagnant it causes flooding, bacteria levels to increase, property damage, MOSQUITOS, and meandering. I’ve been documenting this and compiling facts and video proof for many years. Also when the wave riding community breaches the berm (Which is NOT illegal to do) it saves tax money the city would have to spend. And also riding of this creek wave is protected and has been going on since the 1970s. Also the city has to use heavy equipment to breach the berm regularly to prevent flooding and mosquitos also. The majority of the time it breaches by itself anyways and when humans do it it’s simply speeding up the inevitable. Part of our history and heritage is riding this creek wave. - We all need to focus on cleaning the water upstream first before increasing an area of water that is already manageable. This creek goes up stream 19.8 Miles through 7 Cities. All of that comes down and ends up here. I hate to say it but breaching this berm regularly is the best option, to not allow larger amounts of bacteria to grow and become stagnant. The less time between berm breaches the better. Also will be less gross when kids and people play in it. The amount of people spewing lies about this area is insane. I’ve been here my whole life. Born and raised. And will continue to fight and show the truth, facts and video evidence. Thank you Public works for your efforts! Thank you lifeguards and first responders for understanding this process that has been ongoing for many decades and generations.
