@adytum_official: GLP-1 receptor agonists are known for diabetes and weight, but a fast-growing body of research suggests they’re also broadly anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating. A 2025 systematic review described effects well beyond metabolism, including emerging interest in autoimmune and neurological conditions. The most direct evidence for MCAS so far is a single 2025 retrospective case series: 47 patients with treatment-resistant MCAS, 89% of whom showed clinical benefit, often within hours to days, across inflammatory, gastrointestinal, neurologic, and autonomic symptoms. Mechanistically, mast cells carry GLP-1 receptors, and these drugs dampen inflammatory pathways like TNF-alpha and NF-kB, which may explain it. The limitations matter and the hype skips them: this was retrospective, single-group, with NO control or placebo, and the authors themselves state that randomized controlled trials are needed before any of this is established. GLP-1 medications are serious prescription drugs with real side effects, real costs, and access issues, and they are NOT a proven or standard MCAS treatment. This is a promising research lead, not a recommendation. I’m not a doctor or scientist. Talk to a clinician who knows your history. Has anyone here been on a GLP-1 and noticed other symptoms change? Curious what you actually experienced. Sources: Afrin LB, Weinstock LB, Dempsey TT, Aschenbrenner K, Blitshteyn S, Schofield JR. Utility of GLP-1 receptor agonists in mast cell activation syndrome. I’m doing great as a chronically ill person on the GLP1. Love it, haven’t lost that much weight but the reduction in pain/inflammation is awesome

I’ve gained at least 30 lbs since being diagnosed with Crohn’s, and I wasn’t skinny to begin with. Could this be a possible treatment for me…? 🤔 Ozempic has such a bad reputation now that I’m afraid to ask my doctor about it.

It’s already helped me a lot with my MCAS skin flares. I’m hoping more in time. I’m having to extremely slowly build up to a regular full dose.

there's no way i really hope this gets more trials because we're lacking in so many, but is there any risks with so many of us on the severe end being so underweight as it is? also do you have any vids on amlexanox as MCAS treatment? im in a really bad state right now and requesting my doc to put me on since they're the only med i could find with little downsides or bad anecdotes but that's prolly just because it's so new
